Data we collect and why we collect it

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymised string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service Privacy Policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Contact forms

We utilise several contact forms across our site which are used for general enquirers and plugin support. When visitors contact us via one of these forms, we collect the data shown in the form as well as the visitor’s IP address.

We use this information to reply to you regarding your enquiry, to provide you with a quote, or to provide support for our plugin. Information submitted to our forms are emailed to our Gmail email accounts, we do not share this information with additional third parties or use it for marketing purposes. After 1 year, data from our contact forms are deleted.

Live chat

We utilise Crisp Chat for our live chat system, to provide real-time answers and plugin support, this data is sent to the Crisp service. The data collected can consist, but is not limited to Name, Email address, Phone Number, IP address and any other information that you share to us throughout the chat.

Newsletter Signups

We use Mailerlite to handle newsletter signups and email marketing. The data we collect for this include:

  • Name
  • Email address
  • Company Name

The data collected will be used to send relevant marketing materials about tips, advice, news, products and services both our own and that of our affiliated partners.
We will not collect or use any of your data for email marketing unless you have given your consent for us to do so.

In some situations, we may email you about a transaction you made on our site, or an abandoned basket. This data will not be used in subsequent marketing and is sent under the assumption that you are genuinely interested in the product/basket.

Cookies

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.

Visiting the login page sets a temporary cookie that aids compatibility with some alternate login methods. This cookie contains no personal data and expires after 1 hour.

An affiliate cookie is set when you visit the site through one of our affiliates links, this cookie is used to link your purchases to the affiliate account. It does not store your personal details, however; does allow the affiliate to know how much was spent in your purchase.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics to collect anonymous statistics about our visitors. This information includes, but is not limited to, the browser and operating system that was used, the visitor’s location, the pages visited during a given session, the date and time of the visit, and the page that was visited before arriving on our website (the referring page). If you purchase a plugin from our store, we record the value of the transaction in Google Analytics.

We use this information to analyze visitor and customer behaviour, to identify sources of website traffic, and make improvements to our website and plugin store.

We do not use any of the Advertising Features provided by Google Analytics.

The Google Analytics service will set up to 3 cookies in your browser. Two are used to uniquely identify you (to distinguish one visitor from another). These expire after 1 day and 2 years respectively. The third cookie is used to throttle the request rate and expires after 1 minute.

Who we share your data with

We utilise Crisp chat as a live chat; as such your, data may be stored on their servers, it is not used for marketing purposed by the third-party.

We also use Mailerlite for our email newsletters, as such some aspects of your data will be shared with them. Your data is not sold or used without your prior consent.

Jilt is also used as a cart-recovery mechanisum.

Plugin Purchases

We collect information about you during the checkout process on our store. This information may include but is not limited to, your name, billing address, shipping address, email address, phone number, credit card/payment details and any other details that might be requested from you for the purpose of processing your orders.

  • Handling this data also allows us to:
  • Send you important account/order/service information.
  • Respond to your queries, refund requests, or complaints.
  • Process payments and to prevent fraudulent transactions. We do this on the basis of our legitimate business interests.
  • Set up and administer your account, provide technical and/or customer support, and to verify your identity.

Additionally, we may also collect the following information:

  • Location and traffic data (including IP address and browser type) if you place an order, or if we need to estimate taxes and shipping costs based on your location.
  • Product pages visited and content viewed while your session is active.

  • Account email/password to allow you to access your account if you have one.
  • If you choose to create an account with us, your name, address, and email address, which will be used to populate the checkout for future orders.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
